Whose youth didn’t include a Chery QQ? Back then, with its affordable durability and eye-catching looks, it became the first car for countless young people and even a mark of youth for a generation. Now, this national icon has made a major comeback, and it has even put on a pure-electric “new outfit.” The first model, the all-new QQ3, has officially debuted. Today, let’s take a look together and see whether it can bring us different surprises along with those youthful memories.

On February 3, Chery officially announced that the all-new Chery QQ3 will make its official return on February 6 at 7 p.m. The official confession was so touching: “What I (the Chery QQ) kept for you is exactly your sparkling youth. I’m back, and the memories of that youth are back too.”

This new car will make its global debut at “Chery QQ Night.” It is positioned as a pure-electric compact car, built on the T12 pure-electric platform, focusing on intelligent technology and space advantages, and specifically targeting the young family market. Its body dimensions are 4195×1811×1569 mm, and its wheelbase reaches 2700 mm, directly surpassing A0-segment models of the same class. It also adopts a 5-seat hatchback layout, maximizing practicality.

In terms of exterior design, the all-new QQ3 has not lost its classic round and cute style, which the official calls “the design aesthetics of wisdom in roundness and conduct in squareness.” The front face has been changed to a closed grille exclusive to pure-electric models, replacing the intake grille of the old fuel-powered version. In the center is an exclusive “Qq” badge, no longer using the traditional Chery logo. It can be recognized at a glance, and the sense of nostalgia is instantly maxed out. The interior configuration is also impressive, featuring a 15.6-inch floating 2.5K central control screen plus a full LCD instrument panel, with a built-in Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip. It not only has the Carmind large model for chatting anytime, but also supports Carplay, Hicar, Carlink, and various phone connectivity options as well as OTA online upgrades, making daily use especially worry-free.

In terms of intelligent driving, the all-new QQ3 has even delivered class-leading capability, equipped with the Falcon 500 intelligent driving system, covering three core scenarios: highway NOA can automatically handle on- and off-ramps and lane changes via stalk input, making highway driving easier; full-scenario parking can recognize 300+ scenarios, and with memory parking and reverse tracking, parking is no longer difficult; urban memory navigation can store 20 routes, with a single route up to 150 km, fully suitable for daily commuting.
On the powertrain side, the new car offers two electric motors with 58 kW and 90 kW, a top speed of up to 125 km/h, and is equipped with a Gotion High-tech lithium iron phosphate battery pack. CLTC range comes in two versions, 280 km and 401 km, enough for both daily commuting and short trips.
At this point, everyone must be wondering: can the all-new QQ3 recreate its former popularity? Let’s first look at its core competitor—the Geely Xingyuan, currently the top-selling model in the compact hatchback segment. This car measures 4135×1805×1570 mm, has a wheelbase of 2650 mm, also features a five-seat layout, adopts a rear-mounted rear-drive setup, has electric motors with maximum power of 58 kW and 85 kW, is equipped with a CATL lithium iron phosphate battery, offers 310 km and 410 km of range, and the low-power version is priced at 68,800 to 76,800 yuan.

By comparison, the low-power version of the Geely Xingyuan and the all-new QQ3 are evenly matched. If the all-new QQ3 is priced on par with it, it will most likely stand out and become a best-selling model. In the end, the market success of the all-new QQ3 depends entirely on its final pricing. Can it find the right positioning and win over both new and old users?
At 7 p.m. tonight, at Chery QQ Brand Night, let’s wait and see whether this new-generation warrior, where “even a small car is AI,” can once again ignite the passion of young people and continue the legend of the national icon.
