On September 22, news came that the new Odyssey, a mid-size MPV under GAC Honda, will go on sale on September 28. The new car continues the overall design of the current model and has upgraded configurations. For reference, the price range of the five models currently on sale is 235,800 to 328,800 yuan.

The exterior of the new car continues the current model overall. The front face adopts a shield-shaped grille and horizontal chrome trim strips, and the headlight group and grille form a "wing-spread" layout. The body length, width, and height remain 4,861/1,820/1,712 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,900 mm. The new car has upgraded configurations, and the interior adds new color schemes. The front seats have ventilation/heating/massage functions, and an armrest refrigerator, ceiling-mounted TV, and aviation aluminum floor are available as options. After the third-row magic seats are folded down, cargo space can be increased.

In terms of power, the new Honda Odyssey still carries a 2.0L hybrid system, in which the 2.0L engine has a maximum power of 107 kW, the motor has a maximum power of 135 kW, and the combined system power is 158 kW. It continues to be paired with an E-CVT electronic continuously variable transmission.
Dada review: The Honda Odyssey is positioned as a mid-size family 7-seat MPV, focusing on urban family use. Different from the business attribute of the GL8, it has a low chassis, a short body, and a small turning radius, making it easy to drive and park in the city. Its target group is urban two-child families, while also accommodating short trips. The Odyssey has cumulative sales in China of more than 750,000 units. In recent years, sales have declined significantly, with monthly sales normally around 2,000 units, while domestically produced new energy MPVs often sell 5,000+ per month, and the market has been diverted by domestic new energy MPVs. Honda's i-MMD hybrid structure is mature, has been verified in the market for a long time, has a low failure rate, and does not require plugging in, but the engine noise is relatively loud during hard acceleration, it lacks sustained power at high speeds, and it lacks an external discharge function. In terms of functionality, it is inferior to domestic plug-in hybrid MPVs. The new Odyssey mainly upgrades the in-car configurations, but the luxury and comfort configurations are all optional items. Such changes are difficult for consumers to notice, and it will be hard to return to its former peak.
